AOSTÆ ALPTECH
Immersive Experiences for Cultural Innovation
AOSTÆ ALPTECH is a multi-project R&D initiative promoted by the City of Aosta as part of its candidacy for Italian Capital of Culture 2025. The program explores the application of cutting-edge technologies (VR, AI, IoT, and 5G networks) to cultural content creation, with the goal of expanding access to immersive experiences that promote local excellence and Made in Italy values.
The project culminates in a real-world demonstrator, the Cabinet aux Merveilles, showcasing five experimental experiences. Among these, we developed two VR experiences in collaboration with DAUIN – Politecnico di Torino, where we were responsible for the visual and technical art development.
Augmented Aostæ
A Mythical Guide Through Memory and Mountains
A VR narrative experience that turns local history into an interactive journey. Users are guided by the Dahu, a fantastical Alpine creature, through tasks inspired by regional myths and notable figures.
From folklore to interaction, Augmented Aostæ blends wonder and learning - guided by a creature that, quite literally, sees the world from a different angle.
VRROOM Studio created a fully interactive VR environment designed for narrative exploration, with stylized 3D characters, animated sequences, and a procedural day–night cycle enhancing the sense of time and place.
Sense the City
Soundscapes of the Past, Composed in the Present
What if you could hear a city's memory?
Sense the City is a multisensory VR experience where visitors become both listeners and creators, navigating Aosta’s layered identity through sound.
Using a custom-built interactive console, users mix real recordings of the city - urban textures, natural ambiences, traditional echoes - into unique tracks that reflect different neighborhoods and historical periods. The environment reacts live to their sonic choices, evolving in color, rhythm, and motion.
Cabinet aux Merveilles brings together immersive technologies, local heritage, and poetic storytelling in an interactive exhibition. Presented at the Hôtel des États in Aosta, it invites visitors to explore the city’s identity through experiences like Augmented Aostæ and Sense the City—blending memory, sound, and imagination into a unique collective journey.
